Hello Indiana Heritage Arts Friends,
The annual Indiana Heritage Arts Exhibition and Sale opens to the public on June 11. Artists from across Indiana have traveled to Brown County to compete for $30,000 in prize money and offer their work for sale. The judge has done her work and juried 96 paintings out of the hundreds that were entered and on Friday, June 10th you can be the first to see the results.
Friday, June 10 — First Look Opening Reception
Enjoy food, wine, and meet the artists who will be receiving their prize money. It is an exclusive chance to see and buy before the exhibit opens to the public. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Exhibit opens at 6:00 pm. Call the Gallery 812-988-4609 and reserve your spot. $20 per person.
Saturday, June 18 — Painting Selma’s Garden
Follow the artists to the T.C. Steele State Historic site. This joint project features a select list of some of your favorite IHA artists including Jerry Smith, Fred Doloresco, Jeanne McLeish, Mark Burkett, Wyatt LeGrand and many more. Beginning at 10 am, you can watch them at work if you like, or wait for the party.
5:30-8:30 pm — Join us for an open house featuring food, wine, live music by violinists Carolyn Dutton and guitarist Peter Kienle in the beautiful Visitor’s Center. Tour the gardens, home, and studio. Docents will be on hand to present the history. The paintings created by the IHA artists during the day will be on display and for sale in Steele’s studio.
The IHA Exhibit at the Brown County Art Gallery will be open from 10 am until 8:30 pm and Steele Site guests can take a shuttle to and from the Gallery from 5:00-8:30 pm. Call the Gallery 812-988-4609 to make your reservation. $45.00 per person
